This presentation will benefit anyone who is involved in creating web content, or has a stake in an organization’s website.
Kevin and Keith will demonstrate Keith’s use of his assistive devices, and how he, as a blind person, navigates a typical website. Keith will navigate a website and explain the difficulties. He then navigates the same website with accessible coding practices in place. Kevin will discuss implementing accessible code. The audience will take away an understanding of the barriers for a blind user and some ideas to improve their websites.
Seeing a live demonstration of assistive technologies can be an enlightening experience; it’s difficult to emulate how an experienced AT user gets the most out of the technology available. A greater understanding of the devices often leads to improved efforts to improve accessible coding practices.
