Doubling Impact: Strategic LinkedIn Growth For Higher Education In 12 Months

In just 12 months, the Acceleration Consortium’s LinkedIn audience grew by nearly 150%, expanding from 1,700 followers in September 2023 to over 4,280 in September 2024. This session will explore the key strategies that fueled this growth, focusing on diverse content creation, event-based storytelling, and the development of internal brand ambassadors. Through practical examples and case studies, participants will gain actionable insights on how to amplify their institution’s social media presence and audience engagement.

The session will be a mix of presentation, audience interaction, and hands-on activities, designed to ensure active engagement and practical takeaways. I will begin with a brief introduction, encouraging participants to introduce themselves to someone at their table and connect on LinkedIn, fostering immediate networking and engagement. The presentation itself will be accompanied by a PowerPoint featuring case studies, examples, and actionable insights from the Acceleration Consortium’s LinkedIn strategy. To get participants thinking about their own LinkedIn profiles, I will use Slido to poll the audience on their current experience using LinkedIn and the types of audiences they engage with on the platform. This will help tailor the discussion to their needs and encourage them to reflect on their social media goals. For deeper engagement, I will conduct a small breakout session where participants will work in groups to brainstorm content ideas for a sample content calendar. This collaborative exercise will give them a tangible takeaway they can apply immediately to their own LinkedIn strategies. By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of how to grow and engage their LinkedIn audience, supported by actionable content ideas and peer-to-peer feedback.
