Facebook’s recently absorbed the award-winning agency, Teehan+Lax, in a move that mirrors other major power plays; Shopify acquired Jet Cooper; Accenture acquired Fjord; Adobe acquired Behance; Square acquired 80/20. These moves signal the importance of in-house marketing & communications to enhance the core products’ user experience and overall value. Yet, many PSE institutions continue to undervalue their creative staff who are often over-worked and under-resourced. Ryerson University’s division of Student Affairs recently consolidated resources to create an in-house agency that services the 5 distinct units within the portfolio. In this session, attendees will learn how to create a similar team at their institution – how to structure the team, how to hire and retain talent, how to create an effective workflow, and how to create a culture of innovation.
