#PSEWEB

From December 2-4, the University of Guelph held ‘The U of G 50 Challenge’, where the goal was to raise $50, 000 in 50 hours, from 1964 donors. Our community came together to raise over $197,000 in 50 hours!

This session will discuss the core structure of the event, then narrowing in on Alumni Affairs and Development’s social media presence throughout the challenge across our four channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn), our campus wide social media plan (including social media toolkits), and how to effectively use a hashtag for a fundraising event. In addition to speaking about all of our social media output, I will discuss the response from the community.

We also mobilized all 100 of our ‘social media ambassadors’ to advertise the event and drive traffic to our website, so I will be speaking to our overall program, as well as the ambassadors’ specific role in the Challenge.
