Should we share attendee contact info with sponsors?

Posted on March 15, 2010 by admin

Hi folks,

Another sponsorship proposal has come in – this one inquiring about whether sponsors will be able to request a list of registrants and their contact information.

I’ve seen this type of opportunity be abused, and I’ve also had it introduce me to new products and providers – and sometimes specials/discounts for attendees.

What are your thoughts on this? Here are a few options to get the conversation started:

Option 1: For the right price, we hand over attendee names, details & contact info

Option 2: We distribute only names & details but no contact information.

Option 3: Overlaps possibly with Option 2 – we can offer to include sponsor content in communications that the conference issues to attendees. Or we could offer to distribute a mailing to attendees for a sponsor, so that contact information remains secure but sponsors are still able to share their products.

Let’s hear it – I’d love for this to be a group decision!

(And don’t forget, we may be receiving a gift of free mugs – would you rather have a plastic travel mug, or a ceramic non-travel mug? Please post comments or use our contact page.)

(And!! The Call for Presentations is now set to close on March 31 – next Wednesday. PLEASE submit your topics asap – as this is our first year we need your support in building a rich program to set the standard going forward – and to make sure that we are successful enough to keep going in 2011!)
